Sweeney's Strand Bar is a real institution in Claddaghduff, for locals and visitors alike. It's a place to meet and relax, over a drink and some food, if you feel like it.  Lots of chat and chilling out in a friendly, relaxed environment.
And all the while, enjoy the breath-taking view!  The 'banner' image at the head of all these web-pages shows the view you'll get from the windows of the Strand Bar - what a view:  over the fields towards Omey Strand, Omey Island itself, the other islands and headlands of N.W. Connemara stretched before you.

And on a warm summer's day or evening, what nicer than to enjoy your drink or your meal, outside at a picnic table. In this picture, Malachy is serving lunch to groups of happy holiday-makers on tour around the

WILD ATLANTIC WAY.  Choose a table on the other side of the road, and you'll probably find yourself right beside some of the wonderful, friendly Connemara ponies always there in summertime.

When you want to be a bit more 'cosy', the 'snug' is comfortable and compact;  and its walls are covered with photos and charts of the area, and of life under the waters of the peninsula.

There are pictures and articles, and display copies of books, featuring the wonderful Omey Island.
